The Artistry of a Recipe : How Sanguine

For a chef, at least me, each recipe is a narrative. It tells a story that combines tradition, culture, and personal experience. Ingredients are chosen with intention, techniques honed over years, and plating perfected. When a chef shares a recipe, they’re not just listing ingredients and steps – they’re sharing a fragment of their artistic identity.

In this way, a recipe is much like a painting or a song, an art form that, once shared, can be interpreted, altered, and even misrepresented. Just as artists are credited for their work, chefs often wrestle with the desire to retain creative ownership over their recipes while also wishing to inspire and educate others.

UMMM Why Sharing Matters ? Especially on Social Media

In today’s culinary landscape, transparency is increasingly valued. Sharing recipes can foster community, inspire creativity, and encourage home cooks to experiment and learn. For many chefs, it’s a way to give back to the community, spread culinary knowledge, and keep traditions alive. Additionally, as chefs open up about their methods and sources, they can deepen public appreciation for sustainable and local ingredients, especially if they emphasize the importance of using produce responsibly and seasonally.

In some ways, sharing recipes can become a form of “culinary activism.” By providing open access to certain techniques or ingredient choices, chefs encourage people to think more consciously about food sources, reduce food waste, and support local farmers. Recipe sharing can thus be a powerful vehicle for raising awareness about the importance of sustainable eating. A great example was the time spent traveling around in Mexico. The conversations around fresh ingredients vs FDA approved items that last for a surplus of days was a topic I would have never been equipped to think about. Well get into that later of course until then. Out of my Kitchen.
